40 Days of Worship, Prayer and Fasting
18 February - 29 March 2026
As we continue to step into 2026, we’re calling the Vision Church family into 40 days of prayer and fasting, starting on Wednesday, 18 February and running through to Sunday, 29 March 2026.
This isn’t just another program on the calendar — it’s a critical season to seek the Lord together. We sense God inviting us to press in with fresh hunger for renewal in our hearts, strength in our church, and revival in our city. We want to mark this moment by re-dedicating ourselves to Jesus — not out of striving, but out of longing — asking God to awaken us again to His love, and to remind us who He is.
Our prayer is simple and bold: that the Name of the Lord would be made great among us — in our homes, in our neighbourhoods, and across our region — and that we would see a genuine move of the Spirit as we seek Him with one heart.
We have provided some information and resources below to help you prepare for these 40 days. Take time to pray and plan what kind of fast the Lord is inviting you into, and commit to gathering with us as we seek God together as one church family.

Types of Fasting
ONE MEAL A DAY
Fast one meal each day during the 40 days (for example, lunch), using that time to turn your attention towards God, and to pray and worship.
ONE DAY A WEEK
Set aside one day each week to fast for 24 hours. For example, you may choose to set aside Wednesday as the day to fast. This might look like fasting from after dinner on Tuesday until dinner time on Wednesday.
A PERIOD OF FASTING
You may feel led to fast for an extended period, such as a 3-day fast. If you have never fasted before, consider starting with a single 24-hour fast during the 40 days.
A Daniel Fast
This is a partial fast, choosing to abstain from certain commonly enjoyed foods for a period of time. In Daniel 1:8, Daniel resolved to be consecrated to the Lord, so he set aside the King’s food and chose to eat only vegetables and drink water for 21 days. A Daniel fast today might look like fasting from meat, desserts, coffee and other rich food and drink.
ABSTINENCE
Abstinence is different from fasting. While fasting involves food, abstinence involves giving up something that has a daily pull on your life (such as sugar, alcohol, television or social media) and dedicating that time and attention to God.
The fast you choose should present a level of challenge, but it’s important to know your body, your options, and most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.
If you have a medical condition, or are pregnant or nursing, we advise that you fast from something other than food.
