Greatly To Be Praised (EP)

Words will never adequately capture all that God is, or all that He has done. And simply adding drums, keys, and guitars behind those words won’t change that (after all, we are human, and He is an infinite God!). But that didn’t stop King David from pouring his heart out in song. It didn’t stop Paul and Silas from praising in the inner prison cell. And it shouldn’t stop us. Worship is what we were created for.

When we lift our voices together to declare God’s unfathomable greatness, significant things happen: perspectives shift, lives change, hearts are softened, the enemy is thwarted, and His Kingdom is brought near on Earth.

We pray that these songs would cause you to lift your voice afresh; to declare the greatness of who God is, and to praise His holy name.

He alone is
Greatly to be Praised.

Great

Psalm 145:3

In Psalm 145 King David pens these simple, yet profound words: 'Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, His greatness is unsearchable’ - in other words, His greatness cannot be fathomed. There are certain words that the English translation perhaps fails to fully do justice to, and ‘great' is one of those words. We use it in so many casual ways and different contexts - we talk about having a ‘great time’, or partaking of a ‘great meal’ or enjoying a ‘great movie’ - yet we also use the word great to describe the Lord! He alone is truly great and unpacking His greatness will take all eternity - for He is great in love and faithfulness; He is great in majesty, power and might; He is great in His righteousness, splendour and holiness; and is completely unrivalled in every way. The heart behind this song is that in some small way it would help people to see and respond afresh to the greatness of the Lord our God, and worship Him in reverence and awe.
